The legislation provides for three types of residence of foreigners in Belarus: temporary stay, temporary residence and permanent residence.
The period of temporary stay is limited by the validity of the visa and may not exceed 90 days in a calendar year.
If there is a visa-free regime between the states, the period is determined by the period of registration of the foreigner and may not exceed 90 days in a calendar year.
At the same time, a foreigner who has arrived in Belarus must register with the registration authority at the place of actual stay within 10 days.
In some cases, the state body may reduce the period of temporary stay, and this decision can be appealed.
At the end of the period of stay, the foreigner is obliged to leave Belarus, or he/she can extend his temporary stay, or obtain a temporary residence permit, or obtain a permanent residence permit.
